Baritone Hyung Yun has been acclaimed for his “subtle musicality and grand voice,” and regularly performs on some of the most esteemed opera stages in the United States. With The Metropolitan Opera, he has performed numerous roles including Valentin Faust under Maestro James Levine, Ping, Turandot(for 8 years)Lescaut Manon (Massenet) with Renee Fleming, Silvio Pagliacci, Count Nottingham Sondra Radvanovsky Roberto Devereux, Albert Werther, Lescaut Manon Lescaut, Zurga in Pearl Fishers with Matthew Polenzani, Belcore in L’elisir D’amor. With Los Angeles Opera, Angelotti Tosca, Marcello La bohème, Micheletto Cibo Die Gezeichneten and Lescaut Manon (Massenet) with Rolando Villazón. Yun sang Ping Turandot with the Santa Fe Opera and San Francisco. He sang Figaro and Enrico under Maestro James Meena with Opera Carolina and Toledo. Honorably Yun is returning as Germont to Opera Carolina this 2023 season. For 21-22 season, Yun returned to sing Ping Turandot with The Metropolitan Opera, Germont La Traviata with Calgary Opera, and Yamadori Madama Butterfly with Dallas Opera. For 22-23 season, Yun returned to The Metropolitan Opera once again for their production of Rigoletto, He sings Germont La Traviata with Opera Omaha and performs the title role of Rigoletto with Opera Columbus.

With San Francisco, Yun sang as Marcello Boheme. He sang Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor at Minnesota Opera, Tulsa Opera, Toledo and Opera Carolina. Yun sang the title role of Eugene Onegin at Madison Opera. With Washington National Opera he sang Germont La Traviata, Sharpless Madama Butterfly, Don Giovanni, Marcello and Lescaut. He sang as Enrico La bohème with Minnesota Opera and Tulsa Opera, Valentin Faust with Austin Opera, Luna Trovatore with Opera of Chicago, Figaro Il Barbiere di Siviglia with New York City Opera, Valentin Faust at Palm Beach Opera, Ford Falstaff as part of the Tanglewood Festival with Maestro Seiji Ozawa. Hayes’ Requiem at Carnegie Hall; Händel’s Messiah with Winston Salem, Memphis and Phoenix Symphony which he performed for 9 consecutive seasons. Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with Tokyo City Symphony, Nielson’s Symphony No. 2 with Philadelphia Orchestra, Verdi’s Requiem at Lincoln Center, Carmina Burana with the Colorado Symphony and San Francisco symphony.
